1. Venue

2. Registration
Participants are invited to register using the website:, no later than 28 February 2020. If you are having difficulty logging in, please email us at While attendance to the event is free, AfDB does not cover lunch for the participants. However, coffee breaks will be offered to all participants at the venue of the event.
Participants will be responsible for all travel-related costs associated with their participation at the BOS; these include airfare, hotel accommodation, daily subsistence, ground transport and visas, if required.

3. Facilities/ Access
The Bank’s facilities are accessible to people with disabilities and assistance will be provided if needed. The presentation of a valid picture identification will be required to access the Bank (i.e. passport or national ID card).

4. Wifi access
Wifi will be available throughout the meeting venue. The login credentials will be provided to participants at the time of arrival.

5. General Visa Information
Visitors entering Côte d’Ivoire require a visa, except for nationals of ECOWAS member countries, and countries that have signed special agreements with Côte d'Ivoire. A valid passport is required for entry into Côte d’Ivoire. The validity of passports must be for at least six months from the date of entry into Côte d'Ivoire. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for an entry visa to Côte d'Ivoire. If a letter of invitation is required to facilitate the obtaining of such a visa, please indicate this to the AfDB Business Opportunity Seminar as soon as possible at Then kindly send us a copy of your passport and a reservation of your travel ticket. The processing time of an application for an entry visa to Côte d'Ivoire is at least 5 working days. You can also apply for e-visa. Procedure for obtaining such visa is explained below.

Process for online registration to get a visa on arrival at the airport: This consists of providing personal information and uploading the relevant documents onto the e-visa portal at (Please only use this website provided). These documents are:

  • The identity page of your valid passport
  • Flight reservation / booking
  • An invitation letter or evidence of confirmed accommodation

6. Vaccinations
Côte d'Ivoire requires travelers entering the country to present a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Participants who do not have this certificate will be vaccinated on site at the health station of the Felix Houphouet Boigny International airport. The cost of vaccination is approximately EUR 11.

7. Arrival and Transportation
The international airport is Felix Houphouet Boigny airport located in the commune of Port Bouet. Many airlines have direct flights to and from Côte d’Ivoire. Additional information can be obtained at the following link please (click here). It should be noted that participants must arrange their own travel from their respective countries and local transportation to the hotel of their choice from the airport. Taxis are available at the airport. We strongly recommend you use a shuttle service of the hotel, if available. Taxi fare from the airport to most locations in Abidjan in a taxi begin at around CFA 6,000 (i.e. EUR 10). Taxi companies can directly be reached at the following links: Ivoire Taxi; Uber; TaxiJet.

8. Accommodation
We encourage participants to make their reservations in one of the following hotels, where the Bank enjoys a standard discount rate. In order to insure room availability at negotiated rates, it is highly recommended to make reservations as early as possible.

11. Climate
Abidjan is located in the sub-equatorial zone characterized by slight fluctuations in weather conditions, high humidity and heavy rains. The temperature ranges between 26 and 40 °C, while the humidity level varies between 80 and 90% with a long dry season from December to April. For further information on weather, please visit

12. Currency and Banking
Côte d’Ivoire currency is the Francs CFA (FCFA or XOF). 1 Euro (EUR)= 656, 957 francs CFA. There are numerous banks and ATM available in all major facilities. The banks are generally open from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm, Monday to Friday. Credit and Debit cards are widely accepted in the major supermarkets and hotels.

13. Electricity
In Côte d’Ivoire, the power plugs and sockets are of type C and E. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

14. Telecom companies
There are several companies operating in the country, namely ORANGE,, MTN, MOOV These companies offer GSM mobile phone services through prepaid cards. It is recommended to purchase these at the airport. A copy of your identity card or passport is required documentation for subscription of services.

Musée des Costumes
Grand-Bassam, an old town that used to be the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, is the location of the national museum of costumes. The center has been set up to conserve, highlight and promote research on Ivorian traditional costumes, which are seen as a tool for communication in imparting traditional values.
Parc National du Banco
The Banco National Forest lies on the outskirts of Abidjan and covers 7,500 acres of tropical rain forest. The park also includes a picnic area, restaurant and an arboretum. It is situated on the north-western side of the plateau area.
